1. I believe that whoever said this quote meant that the leaders or people in charge of a government should be careful and act in the interests of the people that they lead because they are outnumbered by the people under them. The person who said this probably thought that in a good government, the people should always have the means to overthrow a cruel or tyrannical government. In America, this is made possible by the second amendment allowing us to arm ourselves, as well as the first amendment allowing communication of revolutionary ideas.
Personally, I agree with this quote. To quote Thomas Jefferson " I hold it, that a little rebellion, now and then, is a good thing". Here he means that occasionally overthrowing a government if it does not act in the interests of the people is a good thing. In my opinion, the sole role of the government is to help as many people as possible as much as possible. While, of course, this might not be as comfortable for the people in the short term, I do believe that it is the people's right, and perhaps even duty, to overthrow a tyrannical or unjust government in favor of one that better serves the common person. This idea is a key part of the ideas that founded the United States, in my opinion, with the colonists overthrowing the British, even if by the end it did not end that way.
I agree with what you said about the second amendment. The law of allowing people to have guns that also equips them for a civil war they could fight to over run the government. However If the people united as one and had a voice to speak for them to direct them as one, they wouldn't need that law because they would have the power to take over anyways.
The amount of people in a country compared to the amount of people running that country differ very highly. The government could be over run by the people if everyone got together and decided to do so. The government wouldn't have control over anything if this was to happen, the government wouldn't have any control over this.
I agree with what this is saying because without people there wouldn't have even been a government established so I think that the government should fear its people.
I agree with what john is saying because it's true without the people there wouldn't be a government because we are the ones that vote and chose who governs our country and what officials enter or are elected for office on behalf, having in mind who we think are the best candidates to power and rule the country we live in today.
i agree the government runs off the people and the people run off the government
I agree with John because people are the ones who make up the government, and the people shouldn't fear its government
I agree with what kyle is saying that how if the people really want to act against the government, then the government would stand a chance and without people a government would have not even been created
I agree that the government should also have fear in it's people also believing that people should fear the government just as much. The government helps keep people in line and enforce many important obligations that need to be dealt due to violations in our country that could lead to people starting to resent the government for certain actions them knowing how big the government is little numbers can't do much against it leading to fear and resentment towards them. but the people could also rise above the government and protest then little protest can lead into a big matter thus making the government in a bad situation so they need some caution in their actions and could lead to the government fearing their own people they govern
I do not agree that the Gov. should fear its people. If a gov. Fears it’s people than a miss trust would occur.

I do believe in this statement for a couple of reasons. First reason why I agree with this quote is because if the government fears it’s people and is always under scrutiny than it is less likely to screw things up. The second reason why this quote is true is because if it does not fear it’s may get too greedy and abuse it’s [power.
I agree with you, that if you let a power grow big in just not a government but a big organization in general that they can get corrupt with power then leading to people hating it and abusing it's power to keep people in line who try to speak up
I agree with the quote "people should not fear their government, a government should fear its people" because basically in this country we the people have the power. Even though we are below the government's power we still have more power if we are united in a big group. Like the quote says "people should not fear their government" , if we were scared of the government, he/she would do whatever they want without letting us know what they are up to but if the government was scared of the people then they would do and follow what we want to make this a better country then what it already is. Also we as people of the US have the right to vote so we are the ones that chose who governs our country and who doesn't and also vote for mayors, secretaries, presidents etc. people that we think are good to power our country. Like this quote says "let us never forget that government is ourselves and not an alien power over us" what this is trying to say is that we ourselves are our own government no president or governor is not going to govern what we do to make this country better than what it is. Also we are no different from each other. For example, laws, the laws we have now exist because we make them exist. If we don't follow these laws we have made up, there will be consequences depending on the law that was broken and how. As to say without us the government wouldn't be anyone and wouldn't have the power to govern a country if it wasn't for the people.
I agree with Melissa, because we shouldn't fear the government, because there is strength in numbers. And presenting a united front and working together as a team shows that the people can be stronger than the government if they try hard enough.
I think that the government should fear it's people, because there's a lot of people who protest and stand up for what they want to believe in and that's why we have riots and protests. People do this to protect themselves from the government. And to prove a point that when people protest they are trying to prove to the government that they are just as strong or stronger than the government. And people have rights and the government can't take that away from us. These are some reasons why I think that the government should fear it's people.
i agree with this statement because without the people the government wouldn't be anything. the people are the governments back bone because the government runs off the people and people run off the government
I agree with ben. Without the people the government would not have an control and they would just enforce blind statements
I believe that a government should fear the people because the people have ultimate control over what happens in this country. Without the people we are just letting rich men control what the poor and less fortunate have and what they can do.
I agree what with corey is saying her but i would just add that the poor / lower class of peole are the ones that work hard doing the dirty work, so when you look at the whole picture tbe people are running everything its just that the government is there to guide them , and they were established by the people to guide them .
I agree with this quote because the people shouldn't fear the government for a basic reason because the people make up the government so if the people are afraid of the government they are afraid of themselves. Another reason is that the people are the ones who take control of the government.
I believe that the government should fear the people and i say this becuase the people outnumber the government. Also when things dont go the way a certain group wants it to go then there will be protests, riots and more and the government is feared of the acts of rebelling. Another reason is that the people establahied the government and run it so they really shouldnt be afraid.
